I have had allot of experience with children and students. As teaching art to students, besides observing other art rooms, I have taught two classes myself.
One class was at the Boys and Girls club in Columbia, SC. My group and I came went to there after school program once a week for about five weeks in a row. We made lesson plans, taught our lessons to the students and did activities. We planned stuff that was active and fun with the students as well as bring their creativity out. These students were boys and girls between 5-9 years old but older kids snuck into our classroom to do what the younger kids were doing.
The second class I taught was in Spring 2011.
I taught an art class after school with the Young Artist Workshop in Columbia, SC.
This class was fun. I made a budget, list of supplies I would need, lesson plans that included many different types of culture. Our theme for all the classes was Dreams and Aspirations.
This was my first time teaching 3D material and everyone in the classroom had a blast. We molded our dream chambers while listening to hip hop minus the lyrics.
