My Philosophy of Education

Philosophy of Education

I believe that education is one of the most powerful tools that people can posses. The purpose of education, to me, is too able our students to be above ignorance and to create positive opportunities. Education is geared toward making an opportunity for anyone to have a change of bettering himself or herself. I want my students to work with me to make our classroom fit both of our needs to make a fulfilling experience.

Our students' opinions matter

I have always wanted to become a teacher since longer than I could remember. I have always admired how big most teachers hearts can be. Teaching their students is only a very, small proportion of a teachers’ job description, they are also a mother, role model, counselor, friend and a supporter. I, as a teacher, have an important role in my students’ lives because I will impact everyone that I come into touch with in some small way. I, as the teacher have one of the most important roles in their students’ education. I believe that the teacher has the ability to make the students get involved and be interested in what they are doing. As a teacher I am going to help students express themselves, their feelings/ emotions and their culture through art. It is up to our community people to be involved with our schools. As a teacher, I will plan events to help our community to get to know our students that will soon head into the world of careers.

Bright ideas for the community to take part in

My goal as a teacher is to reach out to disadvantaged and troubled students. I want all of my students to know that they can have the opportunity of achieving anything that they put their minds too as long as they have the strength to work hard and make their dreams come true. My choice of age group to teach would be high school aged students. This is the age where teens begin to figure out who they are and what they will do in their lives. I plan to get the students involved with their community, teach them about different cultures, how to express themselves through different mediums of art, within our classroom and how to be open-minded and put themselves out there.

Every student should have a chance

I believe in helping our students to succeed beyond high school. I want my students to care about the community that they live in and to have respect for other people’s opinion. I also believe that students should learn how to be creative in reaching within themselves and sharing piece of themselves to the world. My classroom will be our students’ outlet on a stressful day. a place where they feel welcome to be themselves and feel accepted within our classroom. I will do class exercises where the students have to communicate and learn about their peers. It is important for feelings to be expressed in an art classroom to receive a much, peer art evaluation from other students. I believe that my curriculum plan would have to include several of community learning activities. I want my students to be able to work together and collaborate ideas. I plan to have class discussions instead of lectures so we can all learn together. Sometimes a conversation will stick in a student’s head better than a name a date.

If we all play our part we can be productive together

My curriculum plans will also include getting out students parents involved and to get the students involved in the community. I once heard a millionaire speak at a conference he told his audience that he got to the place where he is today because of the people that he knows. He told us to get everyone’s names and phone numbers that we meet because you never know who that person may become one day. What better way to set out students up for success by doing community projects to get their names out and art is such a great way of bringing people together? Art is also a wonderful way to introduce new cultures and how other cultures make art. I believe that it is important for students to be proud of the culture that they came from and to be opened to new cultures and new ideas.
